YouTube Shorts downloader for vertical clips

YouTube Shorts are short-form vertical videos, usually under a minute, published on youtube.com/shorts paths and inside the Shorts shelf in the app. People save them for offline drafts, creator research, class examples, or personal archives — when they have the right to do so.

How Shorts links differ from regular YouTube URLs

A typical Short looks like https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID. The same video ID can also appear as youtube.com/watch?v= or youtu.be/, but creators and viewers usually copy the /shorts/ form from Share. Paste whichever public URL you have; the downloader resolves the video ID behind it.

On phones, Share → Copy link is more reliable than typing the URL by hand. Avoid third-party “shortener” pages that wrap YouTube — those often break resolve and are unrelated to YouTube’s own Shorts product.

App vs browser: copying a Short quickly

• YouTube app (iOS/Android): open the Short → Share → Copy link → open this site in your browser → paste → continue.
• Desktop browser: open the Short page and copy the address bar URL that contains /shorts/.
• Embedded or shared chats: if the preview opens YouTube, copy the final youtube.com link after it loads — not a messaging-app redirect URL.

MP4 vs MP3 for Shorts: which file should you save?

Choose MP4 when you need the vertical picture — reactions, demos, dance clips, product shots, or anything where framing matters. Shorts are designed for portrait viewing; an MP4 keeps that layout for offline playback on phones and computers.

Choose MP3 when you only need the soundtrack — spoken tips, music loops you are allowed to keep, or voiceovers for notes. MP3 files are smaller and skip video processing time when picture is irrelevant.

If you already know you want a long-form lecture or full music video as audio, use the dedicated MP3 downloader instead. If you need a standard landscape upload at a specific quality label, use MP4 downloader.

Quality, file size, and Shorts expectations

Shorts are short, so downloads often finish faster than hour-long videos. Still, estimated size depends on the progressive stream we can serve — not on every adaptive “label” you see on YouTube’s player. If a high quality option exceeds the site size limit, pick 720p or 480p; for a 15–60 second clip those files remain practical on mobile data.

Live Shorts, premieres that have not finished, and age-gated content are common reasons a preview fails. Public, completed Shorts with a normal Share link are the intended input.

Saving a Short does not grant you redistribution rights. Download only content you own, licensed material, or clips you have explicit permission to keep.
